Townline has proposed a development for the 700 block of Tolmie Avenue at Oak Street through to Roderick, the site of the former Mayfair Lanes bowling alley. The proposal includes a three-tower, mixed-use residential and commercial development with a Great Canadian Superstore anchoring the project. The site is on the Saanich side of the Saanich-Victoria border, in Victoria’s urban core. Building heights are two 21-storey towers, and one 24-storey tower. Although the site is within the boundaries of Mount View Colquitz CA, QCHCA is being invited to comment given the scale of the project and the proximity to our western boundary.
Townline say they “have submitted a number of iterations of the rezoning & development application to the District of Saanich and have been working with the District on the many fine details of the application”. You can look at their application here https://online.saanich.ca/Tempest/OurCity/Prospero/Details.aspx?folderNumber=DPR01020
They have advised that they are sending out invitations to the surrounding community to a public open house taking place on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 @ 6:30pm at the Ukranian Cultural Centre, 3277 Douglas Street, adjacent to the project site.
They have asked QCHCA and Mount View Colquitz CAs to pass along the invitation to and details of the open house.
At the meeting they will have boards and images of the project and the room will be set up for an open discussion. The project team will be available to answer any questions, as will representatives of the QCHCA Board.
Please email qchca3003 with any questions or to share your feedback on the proposal so we can include them in our letter to Saanich. Thank you!
