Your neighbours are growing tasty little vegetable starter plants to give to you, for free!
In June, CHUFF’s backyard growers planted 200 kale and broccoli seeds that they’ve been lovingly tending for a Grand Giveaway to our Quadra Cedar Hill neighbours, August 19. It’s another fun CHUFF initiative to reduce our collective carbon footprint by encouraging folks to choose to eat more locally-grown food – all year long.
How about it? Along with your young kale and spring broccoli plants you’ll get fertilizer, protection from pests, and when you have questions we’ll have an experienced grower to provide answers all winter long on CHUFF’s Facebook page.
Whether you’ve wanted to try growing winter veggies and haven’t gotten around to it, or you’ve never grown vegetables and are a little daunted, or you’ve grown winter veg in the past but keep forgetting now is the time to plant, you can grow these yummy veggies in garden beds or containers with help from our step by step, how-to-grow instructions – on this website.
