What’s happening?
The District of Saanich is undertaking an infrastructure project on Borden St in front of Tim Hortons and Reynolds Secondary School. This project includes the design and installation of a raised crosswalk and a traffic-calming speed table. The project aims to improve safety for pedestrians using these connections to and from Reynolds Secondary School, and the Lochside Regional Trail.
Why is Saanich doing this?
This location was identified by Reynolds Secondary School in discussion with Saanich staff. After analysis of the location it was determined to be warranted based on traffic volumes, number of pedestrian crossings, and proximity to transit locations. Upgrading this crossing location will increase the safety and comfort of students while travelling to school.
Construction Impacts
Traffic delays may occur in this area during construction. Construction will occur Monday-Friday during business hours. Property owners who will be directly impacted will be notified of the construction and to expect delays while construction is being done. Garbage and recycling services will be maintained throughout construction.
