
Mayor Dean Murdock, The Future of Saanich

The next QCHCA public meeting will be held on Thursday April 3/25 at 7 to 9 pm in the Art Room at Cedar Hill Rec. Centre. Our President, Susan Haddon, will give a brief update on activities and developments in the Quadra Cedar Hill Community area, followed by a refreshment break. Our guest speaker Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock will then give a presentation and encourage discussion and questions from the audience. He will talk about the value of Community Associations and the future of Saanich. In 2022 Dean Murdock was elected Mayor and had served as a Councillor for three terms since 2008. After graduating from UVic with a Masters degree in Political Science in 2007, he became the Vice President of the QCHCA. He was the lead for the Healthy Communities project for the provincial Ministry of Health, and a Project Manager for the Ministry of Transportation. He has been the Chair of the Saanich Police Board, the Housing Affordability Committee and the Public Safety Committee as well as having several CRD appointments. He created Better Mobility Saanich and hosted podcasts called Amazing Places. His interests include the protection of the ALR and green spaces, food security, urban forestry, carbon emission reduction and road safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
